Speech models
Saypane runs open speech models on your PC. A small model ships with the app, so it works offline from the first start. The others are downloaded once, when you first need them.

Which model for which language
Parakeet covers Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian. For every other language Whisper supports, including Japanese, Chinese and Korean, Saypane uses Whisper: the small model in the free version, large v3 turbo in Pro. Models and hardware in detail.
Where models come from
- From models.saypane.com first, with Hugging Face as the fallback.
- Downloads resume if the connection drops, and every file is checked against its SHA-256 checksum before use.
- After a model is downloaded, it never needs the network again.
